I met up with Mike again and we grabbed a snack bark. then, went next door to ride brooklyn

They greeted me and were able to point out this  , no personal pic. i forgot :/ ); They lent me a helmet to cruise around the neighborhood and on the busy-busy street in the bike lane, down hill,,,,,
side noteL Schwinn is the bike of my youth memories. Getting bikes from police auctions*. (Recovered but not claimed, i guess. Maybe confiscated from drug dealers.. lol... ) so this one is around 350 and a single speed. I felt the lack of gear going up the slope back to the store.


Oh- I did capture a helmet to consider . (See? the price of safety!) Not the helmet i borrowed, btw. That one was bulky and left my over-sensitive head heated.

Being that i was within walking distance of home, I walked back, making an independent stop at brooklyn bike and board; (it seems like someone forgot to pay their webpage bill!);Again, I was ignored, despite staff not being preoccupied with other customers. And, Again, nothing out that was particularly tempting to try out. I did grab the free bicycle routes of nyc map though.

which leaves me still meh. Spend a lot for a great bike? or spend a little on an ok bike


i know i'm behind, this one has been sitting needing a clean up.

Figure out what kind of bike you want then troll Craigslist for a decent condition version of that bike. Thats what I did, paid about half for a VGUC bike that was a model or two behind the current one, but was owned by a little old Chinese lady in Elmhurst and it literally still had the white marks on the tires indicating how new they were, how unridden the bike was despite being about 8 yrs old.

i already have the bike. it was posted on fb at some point and was probably one of the ones that fb hid. I'm still behind on the blogging, although I do have 1 1/2 posts left to go live.

i don't know why they FB does that. it's super annoying. i already know that there are posts from other people (including you) that didn't show on my feed, even though it's clearly on that person's time line. i've checked to make sure i have them to show me all their posts, and not their likes. FB just ends up showing me whatever the hell FB feels like showing me. it's just so much ARGHHHHH-ness.

I was weary to go via CL because I don't have the energy to trek around town. Plus, there could easily be something wrong that I wouldn't catch. possibly CL for a future bike, but I'm also weary of ending up with a stolen bike from another city since that's how thieves roll (steal from once city, CL it in another.)

True on all points, including FB not showing it in my feed. It looked like a great bike!

When I had it set on FB to show me all posts, I was getting too many. So the only person I have set to show me all posts is Zach, and even that is a little much. But it is stupid. I can't set priority, so like, a friend's cousin's little sister whom I've met a few times shows up a lot, I think because she stalks pictures of Maya and therefore those interactions bump up our mutual priority? But then people I care about whom I don't interact w regularly on FB, perhaps because I actually talk to them or email them or otherwise communicate with them, somehow get hidden because we don't interact as much on FB. But I care hella more about you than I do my friend's cousin's little sister. Mind you, neither the friend nor the friend's cousin show up regularly in my feed! And still not everything Zach posts shows up in my feed, or mine in Zach's!

I don't want to see every damn like or comment, but I would like to see all the pictures (uploaded, not shared ones that make FB into Tumblr) and status updates of the folks I genuinely care about. ARGH. I keep seeing the same 100 or so people, many of whom are mere acquaintances. While my close/r friends go unseen.

I'm not ignoring you on FB. They just don't show up in my feed :(

What's your desire for a pimpin' ride versus need to not care if it gets jacked?

my desire is less about the pimpingness as being able to ride farther without destroying body in the short or long term.
i can feel the diffrence in the slopiness of the street when cruising around on the one i ended up with vs. what happened on the experimental rides i had taken.

i'm hoping the deluxe lock keeps it safe. in the meantime, i'm also keeping it indoors as much as i can when i'm not riding it
