Date: 2008-11-12 07:22 am (UTC)Of course PoCs in Arkansas didn't vote for this. They knew it was targeted towards them as much as teh gayz.
But of course for Dan Savage it's a gay issue, not a race issue, exclusively.
le sigh.
Personally I think that the Mormons should be investigated for breach of 5013c status for putting so much money into the Prop 8 coffers. Blacks may have voted for prop 8, but at a lower rate than whitey mcwhitewhite. Just because this more often lead to a split ticket btwn Obama and Prop 8 doesn't mean it's the blacks' fault! Grr...
(not addressing the issue raised in your last post, with which I agree as an ideal, but part of me really just wants a wedding registry...) (plus have you heard the shenanigans in the NYS Senate?)

Date: 2008-11-14 03:39 am (UTC)The shananigans are basically that a couple of socially conservative Democrats have threatened to leave the party and become Republicans if the Senate Majority leader introduces pro-gay marriage legislation. Ergo, gay marriage legislation is off the table for the year. Meanwhile, all three senators threatening to do this only came out against gay marriage AFTER the election, during which the official party platform of NYS Dems was to pass gay marriage legislation (hence not making clear to their constituants that they actually didn't agree with the party platform), AND taking money from pro-gay groups.
Shenanigans, I say, shenanigans!
