health update
Nov. 16th, 2006 01:28 pmi've been navigating health and such appointments.
at this point, i have no foreseeable major surgeries on the horizon. always a good thing.
i do need to have a root canal. because my last dentist believed in procrastination and yanking (rather than root canaling), i need to see a periodontist to discuss gum surgery to remove gummage that grew into the cavity. FUN and espensive TIMES!
i do have dental insurance to cover probably 50% of it. and it will probably next year when i have more money available from the insurance in the first place (i'm approaching max out from other appointments with my last dentist.)
still, not looking forward to it. they said we can work out a payment plan, as necessary.
at least i can watch the family guy while others dig around my mouth. poor me.
also on the horizon is the tubal ligation. the only hold back on this is it's more surgery and it's going to be 250-500USD out of pocket, probably. (i pay 10% of all fees. in addition to related copays.) i have enough sick and vacation and personal days at this point that if i have it before or after my job's "anniversary" date (read: when i get more vacation but lose unused sick days) it shouldn't really matter.
because the birth control does help minimize the bleeding, even while increasing the migraines, i need to have a serious talk with my gyn when i go in next week regarding continuing on it whenever i end up going for the surgery. it's the ring, which is probably my last hope at this time in medicine. considering the rarity of my meetings with a penis, the ring is currently probably more for menstrual control. however, i do realize it only takes one fateful piv event for a fetus to be formed. bah.
.
the HPV vaccine isn't at my doctor or gyn as of yet. another doctor in my gyn's office does have it, so, i have the option of going there. i've confirmed with my insurance that the vaccine itself is covered (normally 350USD), but not the copays related to going to the doctor's office (30USD). and there are 3 visits. Still, rocket science dictates that 90 < 350. i'm on the waiting list for when my PCP (who is located around the corner from my current job) gets it in within the next 1-2 months.
i still need to figure out when i'm due for my annual PCP appointment and that will mean shifting through my insurance website.
