An oxygen tube pumping air into his lungs, the 28-year-old man allegedly beaten and stabbed in the West Village by a gang of petite lesbians described the attack yesterday from his hospital bed.
"They hated men," Wayne Buckle said from the intensive care unit of Saint Vincent's Hospital Manhattan. "I think it would have been any man and not just me."
Still shaken by Friday's terrifying assault, Buckle, an independent filmmaker from Queens, said he felt he was the victim of a bias attack.
"It was a hate crime against a straight man by a ton of lesbians," he said. "This is what the world is coming to."
Several witnesses and police sources said Buckle sparked the attack by spitting on a 19-year-old lesbian after she rejected his advances outside the IFC movie theater on Sixth Ave. near W. Third St. He also allegedly cursed the woman, Patrice Johnson, using gay slurs.
Johnson and six of her friends - all lesbians from New Jersey - pounced on Buckle at 2 a.m., whipping him with belts before Johnson stabbed him repeatedly in the belly with a 4-inch serrated steak knife, authorities said.
Buckle was bleeding badly after the attack. He suffered multiple stab wounds to his stomach, and his face was bruised.
The seven suspects were arraigned early yesterday on charges of attempted murder, assault and gang assault. They were ordered held on $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
His eyes swollen, Buckle was hooked up to a respirator yesterday. He denied that he had provoked the attack and insisted he was not homophobic.
"All I said was, 'Excuse me, how are you doing?' like a gentleman," he said. "I thought it was the natural thing to do."

Date: 2006-08-20 07:57 pm (UTC)In this day and age, an "indpendant filmmaker" who isn't on the internets is a looser. Or he's in porn. Actually, a name like Wayne Buckle fits well into the psuedonyms of the porn world. I'd just like to point out that according to Google, this guy doesn't exist...
LOLz

NEW YORK -- A group of lesbians pummeled and stabbed a DVD bootlegger in the West Village early Friday after he tried to pick up one of the women -- and then spat on her when she rebuffed his advances, police and witnesses said.
Wayne Buckle, 28, was jumped by the women at 2 a.m. in front of an IFC movie theater after allegedly cursing a 19-year-old gay woman because she rejected him.
"She's my girl, and no one hits on my girl!" one of the women yelled during the altercation, a police source said.
The women -- all from Newark, N.J. -- whipped Buckle with belts before 4-foot-11 Patreese Johnson allegedly stabbed him in the belly with a steak knife, police said.
"He called us (homophobic slur) and he said he was going to f -- - us all," one of the women said hours later as cops led the seven suspects out of the 6th Precinct stationhouse.
"He spit on us and threw a cigarette," another woman said. "This is a hate crime."
Buckle was in critical but stable condition at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan's ICunit.
Witnesses said Buckle had approached Johnson as the women walked by the theater. When Buckle hit on Johnson, she explained that she wasn't interested in men. Apparently offended, he spat on her.
Moments later, Johnson's six friends pounced, police said.
Johnson allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Buckle.
"He was in agony. He was bleeding a lot," said Diego Rodriguez, 60, who works at a nearby newsstand and called 911. "He made the mistake of spitting at one of them. They beat him up bad with belts, kicked and punched him."
Johnson allegedly tossed the knife under a nearby car as the group fled before being apprehended, police said.
All the women were charged with gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon. They were awaiting arraignment Friday night.

Date: 2006-08-21 03:50 pm (UTC)On the other hand, and this is by no means a justification of what they did, lesbians were raped, attacked, assaulted, killed as recently as, well, the present. The fact that they turned the tables and defended themselves using the same tools of violence as the straight men use is something to recognize. It sends a message that no, it is not ok because we have the same tools as you and aren't afraid to use them. Are they the right tools? No. But looking at the situation, Buckle was clearly in the wrong from the outset; he was already using the tools of violence and patriarchy. That the tables got turned and those same tools were used against him? Not so bad.
To me, it's like Christians screaming oppression in countries where missionaries were used in the exploitation of native populations for the purpose of colonialism. Do I agree with Nigeria or China torturing or expelling Christians? No. But the Christians started out deeply in the wrong, with the history of missionary rape (body and soul) and exploitation that preceeded them. That those tools are now being used against Christians in those countries isn't necessarily justified, but it is poetic justice.

then you pan down to the bottom of the article and he suggests that at some point he was being gentlemanly, lol.
