my mother sent me a pecan kringle in the mail today.

i think i'll freeze part of it. and take part of it so my coworkers can share in my nordic heritage.

(nevermind - to the best of my knowledge - i lack any danish in me. but, still, scandinavian is as scandinavian does. no i don't know what that's supposed to mean.)

anyway, yay for mothers.

and i'm blaming st. nick's (12/6/04) for this one.



also, i want to make more cookies.
damn me and my baking phases.

And I'm not taking any classes this semester, though I'm supposed to be finishing work from the one before that.

The cookie request could be a hint; I am a sucker for baked goods and chocolate. It's ok if you keep your cookies to yourself, though.

Are kringles somehow connected to Chris Kringle?

ahhh. that makes sense.
all of it.

well, the cookies are chocolate chip.
i only made a half dozen cookies because
a)my attention span rarely lasts through the individual pan baking of batch. b)my oven turned off twice (the power cord fell out of the wall) while trying to bake this pan. and c) i want an excuse to do more baking tomorrow.

be nice to me and i could be convinced to send some cookies your way.

i don't *think* kringles and kris kringle are related. however, i have never attempted research on the matter.

Only a half dozen? You have far more self-control than I do.

Kris Kringle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kris_Kringle) is German, so he isn't directly related to kringles. :[

the self-control was seriously assisted by the oven cord coming out. twice.
with the oven cord out of the socket, the oven shuts off.
the cookies don't bake.
and i have to plug it back in, once i figure out that that's why the damn cookies aren't baking.

only to have them wind up crispier than i prefer.

the rest of the cookies have now been baked.

yeah. i found that about kris. so it makes sense, now. i guess.
