in which i go to see a movie
Dec. 21st, 2003 04:24 pmSO, i had decided that if i'm going to pay 10 motherfucking dollars just to see a movie in the goddamned theater, it had better be my money's worth, damnit. so, with that spirit in mind, i set forth to see big fish actually, this process was begun earlier. but, due to unclear advertising, i thought one needed a special card or membership to get in.
fortunately for me, this was not so.
and i went forth, after much procrastination last night, to the 1115pm showing. to see a movie for 1050, that i could just as easily see with the rest of the country in a few short days for almost half that much money, simply because i could.
and i liked it. as i pretty much had expected. it is a very visually pretty. (albeit a tad simple at times.)
no spoilers. but most certainly worth my 1050, even if you take out the novelty effect of seeing it early... but, to keep from giving anything away, on to other topics.... if you want to know more of the movie, ask. and i shall tell. just go see it. yeah, you're going to have your bleak coloring at times and the strawberry-blondish women. but you know you love it.
and ewan. and helena. and "benson".....
first, there were, like 15+ minutes of pre-movie stuff. anti-drug baby drowning ad. i'm really tired of this one. levi commercial of dude wrangling a car. uh, rightyoh. another drew barrymore-adam sandler movie. jennifer aniston's latest movie. c'mon. if i'm going to see a GOOD movie, i want to see GOOD previews. no COMMERCIALS either. and not that damned nyu student's little short. ugh. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!
i do enjoy fandango commercials. the first time i saw one, with their cute little paper bag puppets, i laughed my ass off. they're less cute. but only because i've seen enough of them they're not so unique.
oh, and the new in-seat service. before the show starts, should i so desire, i can have an usher bring me food. no alcohol. (it seems every time they make the offer to bring food/drinks, someone asks for it.) nice marketing ploy. only one person took them up on it. (she had been running late to meet her date and had just arrived.) but i can see it catching on. the temptation is nice if you're already nice and settled to let someone else go and fetch you your raisenets, popcorn, soda, or whatever have you.
mmmmmmmmmm. artery-clogging popcorn.
and a 1000am rendition of oh come all ye faithful that i could swear lasted 2 hours.

Date: 2003-12-22 06:05 pm (UTC)it;s really not that much more. all the theaters in manhattan are 10.00 (or more, apparently), except the cheap one in times square that shows the second run movies. and even that one's like 5.
