i went to stardust tonight. . . . i liked it . . . even with michelle pfeiffer . . . very good and i do recommend it . . . but why were distances listed in miles (when they're supposed to be just outside of england)?

i'm not feeling energetic enough to try to find an answer i'll be satisfied with...

Actually, I found that everyone in the UK gives distance in miles.

It's totally disconcerting.

Yeah, I was going to say. The UK is kinda like Canada - a lot of things are dual listed in English and Metric, but a lot of things are just in English. Really it's only Germany that's truely adopted the Metric system exclusively... everyone else is just pretending ;)

did i mention this is victorian england we're talking, and the sign *only* listed miles?

it's an aburd movie and should really just attribute such ponderings to that.... though gay city news is right, the movie would have been a gazillion times better if gilliam had done it instead.
