dear live journal:

NO, i am not going to participate in your pseudo-anarchistic not-one-damn-dime shit.

i will continue to support my local businesses on that day. most of them share my sentitment about the king "presidente".

i will continue to strongly dislike the president and his war and his hate-filled policies.

if i'm going to do anything, i will do something*; i will not intentionally do nothing.

if doing nothing for one day does something for your soul, uh, good luck with that.

but count my un-sorry ass out.

*definition of something remains to be seen. considering my ass is broke and i presently have to struggle to stay awake for more than 12 hours at a time and am still hacking up a lung or two, my protestations will probably be on hold thursday but will continue as they have prior.

.....Democratic governors have found ways to appeal to voters in states won by Bush. Some practice down-home populism. Others craft no-nonsense CEO images. They push moderate Democratic policies or borrow GOP ideas and, above all, reject the partisanship of Washington.

Such a hater. I bet you'd say the two parties are nearly identical even if they weren't.

I figure I'm going to buy solely at small businesses, ideally businesses where the owner is on site. That's what I almost succeeded in doing for Buy Nothing Day (had to buy gas, which smudged my record).

If I lived in Washington, D.C., though, I'd be part of the group turning its back on Bush as he drove by.

my stance is the same for buy nothing day.

as far as going to d.c., i'm mixed about it. attending still makes you a "supporter". and i don't know how much press will cover it, or how it will be framed.

But don't you want to be amongst the # of protesting attendees briefly mentioned in Fahrenheit 9/11 1/2? Stop being such a hater!

Yeah, I'm not sure how the turn-your-backs protest will be framed either. I'm trying to figure out whether I want to watch the parade just to see what footage claws its way past the media guardians.

When you say "my stance is the same," do you mean the same as mine or the same as for Not One Damn Dime? Surely purchasing from small businesses instead of large ones lets you keep your Capitalist Whore certificate intact. ...Okay, maybe it downgrades you to Capitalist Massage Therapist With Release.

my god, i love you. this is exactly what i've been saying to the 2093874927423 who have tried to tell me about it. i also fear that this not-one-damn-dime bullshit will undermine all the radical activist events happening that night across the country in protest of the inauguration. because, yes, people are that stupid to not get the idea that you SHOULD still spend money at activist places.

i got tired of getting into "discussions" on the matter and tried to condense it into one simple post.

i just don't get some people. . .
