(Washington) The Pentagon tried to develop a bomb that would turn an opposing army "gay" according to newly declassified documents.
The papers, obtained by the New Scientist and the Sunshine Project - an organization that exposes research into chemical and biological weapons you know, those things that other contries aren't allowed to develop - show that during the Clinton presidency you remember him, mr. i'm your friend... the military attempted to create a series of non-lethal chemical weapons that would disrupt discipline and morale among enemy troops.
One weapon that the Pentagon worked on is described as an "aphrodisiac" that would make enemy soldiers sexually irresistible to each other.
According to the documents the Pentagon believed that "provoking widespread homosexual behavior" among troops would cause a "distasteful but completely non-lethal" blow to morale. ohh, maybe this means i should be grateful they're not trying to kill off "possibly innocent" civlians....
The papers which date from 1994 show that the bomb was being worked on by scientists at the US Air Force Wright Lab in Dayton, Ohio. so... if it had accidentally gone off in dayton, would the november results have been different?
The documents also show that the lab requested $7.5 million to pursue the bomb, how many homes/schools/food items could have been bought instead? but a Pentagon spokesperson told the New Scientist it is not known if the project ever went ahead. that's right kiddies, "they. dont. know."
"The Air Force’s proposal is delusional, homophobic and offensive," said C. Dixon Osburn, Executive Director of Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.
"Gays and lesbians serve in the United States armed forces and in the militaries of our closest allies. They do so as part of a formidable fighting force. The assertion that a gay opponent would be somehow less effective in combat is outrageous. No one questioned the battle prowess of Alexander the Great because of his sexual orientation."
