time to do your civic duty
Jul. 11th, 2004 09:41 pmi've stolen this from someone (read:
hardvice) on my friends list....
jerry falwell's gang had this bright idea of organizing a phone drive to have folks call their senators in support of the Federal Marriage Amendment. go here (a new window will open) for the numbers of your senators to voice your opposition or you can call the Human Rights Campaign number : 1-800-672-3184, and try to be connected that way.
or go with a number below.
i tried to include every american on my friends list. i may have missed some for some reason. please, don't take any overisghts on my part personally. i tried to match up best i could with my limited knowledge. if i skipped you, don't take it out on your senator. CALL ANYWAY. dc number's were included because, for some of you, i know that a cell phone day time minute, is a cell phone day time minute, no matter where you're calling.
remember, it's not just a matter of HUMAN RIGHTS, it's a matter of preserving the consitution, people.
when not if you call:
tell them your name.
that you're a voter.
and to Just Say No to the federal marriage ammendment.

Date: 2004-07-11 09:55 pm (UTC)When we call we should also emphasize that we are constituents of the people we're calling. There's no reason I should give Kyl or McCain an easy reason to dismiss my efforts.
And I like your icon. I may have to borrow it.
thank you
Date: 2004-07-12 01:38 pm (UTC)and i prefer to maintain company with those who do so with at least an equal amount of vigor.

Date: 2004-07-12 02:08 pm (UTC)Thanks for doing this. I just called - and I should tell you, it's the first time I've ever called a sentor's office. I send emails, I sign things, I've sent letters - but I've never called. For some reason I was all thrown when someone answered the phone right away, and I think I sounded like a bumbling 16 year old who'd never used a phone before - but I got the message across. :)
