rktwhat the fuck is kate winslet doing on the cover of motherfucking JANE magazine? doesn't the woman know i HATE jane? that i consider it to be akin to the antichrist? i'm so utterly disappointed. i don't know which would be a lower blow, jane or cosmo.
fuck. i'm still so utterly in love and lust with her.
speaking of cosmo, i'm still seriously considering going to the feminist symposium on saturday at barnard. jeneane garafolo will be there. (i know she's supposed to be my idol. but she's just not.) so will cosmogirl. i want to see how a feminist symposium justifies having cosmogirl! there. . oh, wait, bust will be there, that must mean the whole thing is gen-u-ine.{/biting sarcasm} i know i'm most likely going to walk away wanting to drown myself in the river, but that's part of the joy of my life. it's great to piss myself off. maybe i can find some other form of entertainment that isn't quite so potentially angry-making. we'll see.
after my headahce eventually wore off today, i did manage some successes. i FINALLY sent the fucking check off for my student health bill. this thing's been around for forever. first, i argued with them. i was told originally i wouldn't have to worry about it, that if i was graduating, i was good to the end of that summer. blah. then, i waited to see how much insurance would kick in. then,i kept them from sending me into collections by dangling money at them every so often. now, i can get my goddamn diploma, nearly 2 years late. it'll be nice. even if it is diploma, singular. and not diplomas, tertiary - as originally planned. i still don't get why they won't give me three pieces of paper for doing threedegrees majors. GODDAMNIT IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!

so i subscribed to bitch for the best friend and myself to make up for the unfairness of my reality.
oh, if you didn't guess, my phone line's back. apparently there were several lines out. my roommate pointed out that this coincided with the 911 emergency lines being out as well. i curse verizon once again.

Date: 2004-03-31 03:00 pm (UTC)also, i didn't think you'd put Jane and Cosmo in the same league. what's offputting to me about Jane though is that it's disguised as an edgy woman's magazine but tends to be just as superficial and maybe just as unfriendly to women of color and international women in terms of sterotyping, etc. as other magazines. and then to have Pam Anderson as a columnist is just retarded. not that i don't think she has brains based on her blond/buxom image but the grrl simply isn't a columnist....period. i can't deal w/ Cosmo and their fake ass sex advice. stop telling women how to make the perfect chicken that will make a man marry you! yes, this WAS in a "back" issue that was too recent for comfort! but oddly Cosmo GIRL! is a little more progressive so...we'll see. i did register and will be there all day....and i'll report back in case you don't get to go yourself.
