so, yes. i up and went to dc. finally, finally, taking advantage of being a hop, skip, and jump away from so much. and it was fun. lots and lots of walking. lots and lots of presidential monuments. (i will say this, the walk down the washington monument is worth it. the “hidden” stones from all over are uber (damn the boring american keyboard) cool. even if you happen to have too-dorky guide from, you guessed it, minnesota.) rode around a lot.
that whole brother thing……
almost none of it was new. the stairs of washington monument was. i still have yet to tour the white house. though, maybe i don’t quite want to.
though, for future reference, do not stay out past 4 am the night before any such trip, especially after week-long bout of insomnia. the combination of factors just might get to you…..

now, when i return to work*, i go not quite knowing who i’m going to be working for. if it’s mr. icahn, who loves to give away money just to name things after himself, or THE ORGANIZATION, which is entirely too american**-biased for my general tastes. the “offical word” is that it’s someone in the city’s fault this whole transition thing isn’t taking place. i’m guessing this person (the comptroller, whoever/whatever that means) isn’t signing off quickly for a reason. but said person is getting to hold all the blame.

i’ve given up asking too many questions because the conflicting responses only hurt my fragile little mind.

*i called out sick monday. seriously, all morning, when i’d try to get up or lean over the side of the bed (to get things, like the telephone, etc.), my whole world would feel discombobulated. like when you were a kid, and you’d spin round and round and then stop. and the world around you stopped moving, but your body and brain hadn’t quite caught up to it, so it took a bit of work to just walk. that’s sort of how i was feeling, only not quite. i don’t know. it was weird. i’m wondering if it’s not some bizarre manifestation of an ear infection. my left ear’s been feeling all cloudy as of late.
i hate the way my body treats me.

**really, major clue here of the identity. maybe i should create the game guess rebecca’s mystery employer . muahahhahahahaa.

i’m too easily amused.

AND this just in from the Rumor mill: “Years before he became House Speaker, Newt Gingrich wrote the foreword to an official U.S. Air Force book that described how electromagnetic weapons can be used to subjugate U.S. citizens who oppose the policies
of the Federal government. The publication, titled 'Low Intensity Connflict and Modern Technology' (Lt. Col. David J. Dean, USAF, Editor), contained a chapter written by Capt. Paul Tyler that deals with electromagnetic, (so-called) non-lethal and psychotronic weapons.
