and, while i'm happy to see hpv awareness (i hesitate to use the term "visibility", cuz, well, i'm not so sure that that *is* a good thing), i am not happy to note the continued lesbian invisibility. while, yes, dykes are low-risk, those who have sex are still "at risk". AND because so many lesbians, and even some GYNs seem to think that there is ZERO chance for virii, including hpv, to be shared from woman to woman, MORE lesbians are at risk for the virus progressing.

i'm also not happy with the way woman's body's are segmented. and for the most part, rather pale skinned.

which means i need to tell Merck something/s. and they don't make it easy.

also, while the site says it is for residents of "the United States, its territories, and Puerto Rico only", i can pretty firmly assure you, NONE of the strains of HPV are US-Centric. (I am not sure what they're getting at by singling PR out.)

This site is intended only for residents of the United States, its territories, and Puerto Rico.

That's fucked up.

Well, Puerto Rico is technically not a state nor a territory, it's an autonomous protectorate of the United States government... Meaning it has it's own version of a state government, but that govenrment doesn't have the same rights as other states, like the power to declare an emergency to get federal funding. Territorial governments are appointed by the Feds with some local control, but not the same as PR. So I think what they mean is that the info is for the US (as in, the states of the US), it's territories, and it's protectorates, even though PR is the only protectorate and therefore they just said PR.

Of course, I dont' see why Canadians aren't allowed to know about HPV, or those dirty French. Or just about anyone who reads English or Spanish enough to understand their website. That may be to cover their butts regarding other countries versions of the FDA.

It's so hard to deal with a company like this doing public health campaigns, though. While awareness is needed and the info is important, the next level of info dealing with treatment usually involves exclusive products of that company, and not sound information.
