i'd had a post pondering what the fuck jerry springer is doing on air america.

lj ate it.

i'm still pondering.

really, such ponderance is a relief, though. strangely. because usually, such would just hurt my fragile little mind.

however, my head keeps wandering all over the place.

from the looks of things this moment, the Very Good health insurance at my job may be a compelling enough reasons to stick around.
you have no idea on how many levels and to what depths i hate this.
i am praying to some deity that i am wrong. or that a back up plan will actually work out.
anyway, i think too much.

so, since i am also the queen of avoidance who could look right at a 60-foot elephant and see nothing there, i bumbled around a bit.

*i added firefox the other night. i'm playing with it. it's a'ight.
*i got a plane ticket to new orleans in october for my birthday to see the Southern Brother.
*i wandered the streets of brooklyn and never really got anywhere. i always forget i should do that more often.
*i attempted to convince a college friend, who i hadn't talked to in ages, to flee the patriacrchy of france her words. not mine. and move to canada.
*i did NOT go on a snark-fest.

wha?

i had no idea jerry springer was on air america...mainly because i support it more than i actually tune in. so what the heck is his segment like? weird.

oh that's right! i forgot he used to be a politician. ....still weird.

lj needs to get its shit together.

i have no idea what the spot is like.
it was one of those billboard-things that caught my eye.

i think [livejournal.com profile] kaygigi said she's heard it though.

I listened to Springer's segment for the first time on the way up from Utah. It's so odd to hear from him in a context that doesn't involve sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and good old-fashioned voyeurism. His tone is much less condescending on Air America.

I'm sure that there are other places with good health insurance, though it sucks that more places don't offer it or don't offer very good insurance.

I haven't heard the actual show, just heard of it. I think it was my psuedo brother in law (because he's not in law, nor my brother, but the brother of my girlfriend, we need new nomenclature) who has actually heard it... I have read some of his political writings, its amusing because he is so different from his show persona. He doesn't see his show as intrinsically exploitative, but instead as progressive and moving towards tolerance and acceptance of differences (sounds cheesy because I have a vague memory of him saying something to that effect at the end of his show once - I don't have cable, its not my fault). I dunno, if I lived in Cleveland I probably would've voted him in as mayor, too.
Hmm, here comes mounting cynacism, connections between politicians, actors, and cheap talk show hosts... Make it stop, world, please stop...

Ahh, eternal optimism - people who listen to Jerry Springer because he's talk show Jerry Springer and then learn to appreciate big L Liberal Jerry Springer and vote as such... I don't need anti-depressants because I have my optimist delusions to guide me towards happiness. Squee!

On the other hand, Jeanene Garofolo's Air America show is quite disappointing, neither funny nor insightful nor inspirational enough to keep me awake in a stuffy car between Indianapolis and Louisville. My pseduo brother in law is inept at keeping a car at a stable temperature that is moderate to all, so he would jack the heat up then open the windows, so I was alternatively lulled to sleep by Garofalo's incessant chatter about blahness and insane heat, only to be woken up by blasts of arctic Indiana air and her harsh laugh at something funny she said to herself. Al Franken was insanely more funny - I kept awake for that and Alli taking over the temperature controls.

ok. my bad. . .

but what's a good alternative to brother-of-one's=significant-other? i mean, what the fuck does "in-law" mean anyway? is it really a good thing to be "in-law" these day?
maybe. but only if the alternative is being an "out-law". but, WAIT, i think i WANT to be an "OUT. law.". damnit. now i'm confused. (it doesn't take much. see?)

back to jerry. (aside: i played a guest on "jerry's" show once in college for a spanish class video. i thnk i still have it somewhere. i really should have burned it.) i guess if conning people into Liberalism works, then... what? is he doing anything to repair the damages of his show? (it's still on network tv. sometimes. i think.)
maybe jerry's a topic best left unthought.

garofolo, on the other hand... she was the keynote speaker at last year's barnard feminist conference. her speech: "womp. womp. womp. i'm funny and skinnier than i used to be, but don't judge me by my weight. womp. womp. womp. it's so hard to be Liberal in hollywood these days.. womp. womp. georgebushsucks. womp. womp. womp. Rah! Rah! Yaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaay feminism!" is how i think her speech went.

i'm sorry that car ride sucked so very much. think of it as pre-paid penance, or something. i have no idea how penances work. or for whom they are supposed to work. or even if they do work. so just don't think about it at all. wipe it from your memory banks.

there.
all better.

so is jerry a thumbs up or a thumbs down? (waaaaaaaaaaay down?)

i know there are other places with good health insurance. if i suck it up, i may try a hand at the company (but another site) where i have the per diem gig.
it's not *just* Good insurance i need at this point, for the time being, i need consistent doctors for a few more months.
