hillary clinton sent me another money request. (update: i sent her an unlaminated (too much added cost. i now have the laminating supplies, however) $1 bill.)

this time, she included a "survey".

first item on the survey was "rank the issues"

  • Economy/Jobs

  • Environment

  • Social Security/Medicare

  • Education

  • Homeland Security

  • Health Care

  • Tax Cuts

  • Reproductive Rights

  • Separation of Church and State

i suppose, in theory, she could claim that last one as being for the gays. or something. no mention of prison/justice reform. no mention of immigration non-discrimination, no mention of human rights as an entity in and of itself, for fuck's sake.

let's page ahead in the "survey"

Which of the two political parties do you trust the most to protect the reproductive rights of American women?
__ Democrat __Republican

HAHHAHAHAHAAH!!1one!

How often do you vote for the Democratic candidates?
__Always __Most of the time __Rarely __Never

umm yeah.

my survey is full of added writing. minimal cursing. she stated in the current letter, "you can't let the opposition set the terms of the debate". um. abortion is what?
tell me again, ms. clinton, your precise stance on universal human rights?

If you are one of the millions of Americans who are saying, "no one's listening to me," and if you believe the Bush Administration and its allies in Congress have turned a deaf ear to the issues that are important to you, now is the time to help us change things.

change is what?

she wants money, again. and a laminated piece of change or two* is what she can expect to receive.

*kudos to [livejournal.com profile] brienf for the inspiration.

Why is she trying so hard to be a good republican? Is that what it takes to get elected? So frustrating.

i think she is trying to prove you can be both a republican and not a republican at the same time.

she is most certainly quite grating. if i wanted to listen to double speak, i'd listen to the monkey.

i hate the fact that i have NO options.

She's not as bad as she could be. Which is to say she isn't Laura Bush... But she has brought over to the liberal side women who used to be what I refer to as conservative but whom are usually cast as "moderate"; she's stood up for feminism as not a negative term (lets not take this moment to question if she really stands for feminism, oh wait, I think I just did anyway), and she used to be very very liberal (remember nationalized health care? It was the highlight of 4th grade).
We all need to remember that she is, indeed, a politician above and beyond whatever or whoever else she is. Politician above woman, above feminist, above liberal. Politicians are people we pay to lie to us, lie for us, etc. Her wranglers are creating those surveys.

But on another Clintonian note, when I was in high school I went to whitehouse.gov and filled out a form letter to the Prez about gay rights. Around the time Hawaii was doing the gay marriage thing, perhaps. When you do these things, you have to pick out a topic. So I picked "Civil Rights." A few months later, I got a form reply with a printed signature thanking me for being concerned about the state of race relations in the US. While I am, in fact, concerned about race relations in the US, I was way more concerned about civil rights for GAYS. The problems afflicting racial "minorities" (when there is no majority, there are no minorities) often have little to do with civil rights these days and more to do with either outright racism or economics. Gays cannot marry, they cannot adopt children, they cannot serve in the military. Those are CIVIL RIGHTS. Good job, Bill. Good job, stupid unpaid white house intern from bumblefuck Nebraska. Good job.
