i'm presently avoiding commentary on the present state of affairs.
by the way, i am, from the looks of things, starting my new position monday. but, The Organization, being The Organization that they are, doesn't want to give me my full pay increase right away. instead, they'd rather do it in increments. which means, because since i'll be salaried like a grown-ed up, i'll actually be taking a pay cut since i won't be making any overtime. at least until the "qualifying period" is over.
meh.
yes, this is what second jobs are for. and are in the proverbial tea leaves for the future, but i need to get settled where i am first, which means putting in the hours. . . gawd bless The Organization.
i'm also not sure what this change means for being able to find things like this anti-spelling article , but we shall see. i'll be too busy for awhile figuring out how badly (slew of expletives) bloomberg is trying to screw over people who don't have as much money as he does.
but maybe it's not a bad thing. i can only handle so much annoyance in my life and it seriously annoys even liberal old me that gun would be censored off the school spelling lists.
how does not knowing how to spell the word "gun" help a child?
it doesn't.
teach children how to spell peace. love. and all that crap. but disallowing the spelling of gun ?
please. you're only adding more power to it.
guns are powerful enough in this country. kids will find out how to spell the word on their own. i'm not saying intentionally put the word on spelling lists. i'm saying don't intentionally leave it off either.
then again, it is canada.....
and i was just wondering earlier, what the frog i was thinking, moving to nyc: bastion of all that i am opposed to, suspected target of "terrorists", land of exhorbitant rent, instead of anywhere in canada......which would provide me with better weather, better national leader, cheaper rent and health care, better candy, better whatever.... . . and then that article came along and i sorta' remembered why. . . (i mean, the article is besides the fact that one shouldn't always resist the call of their own personal siren, and my biggest siren's name is/was new york city, that's a whole other topic...) but because i'm so left i'm right, canada would kill the leftness in me by their deranged politics.
canada a nice place for me to get my sorry behind to one of these days.
but i have no plans to move their anytime soon.
unless i can no longer look at myself in the mirror and be content with american citizenship. which, at this rate, maybe isn't so far into the future afterall.
