some weekends, i should just listen to me and stay home

let me tell you how much my weekend sucked.
i continued to remain in a cramped stupor. my neck hurt. and it was fucking hot outside.
oh, but it gets better.

i went out on saturday night.

it rained all over me before i could make it to the first bar.
i looked like a drowned fucking rat.
and drank my cheap drinks.

then, we moved on but ended up taking a cab the 7 blocks to the next bar, because there was no guarantee with the rain coming and going all night, that we wouldn't get re-soaked. henrietta's sucked. i just wasn't feeling the crowd, which was probably at leat 20% male besides. men are fine and dandy, don't get me wrong. their just not what i'm wanting to see when i go to girl bar. grrrrrr.

then, i went and had some less-than-stellar pizza from ray's.

then i took the subway home. got off the subway. and, while walking towards my humble abode, talking on the appendage that is my cell phone, my purse, containing my keys, credit cards, my hairbrush, and whatnot, got yanked off my shoulder.
i called 911 (cell phone didn't get taken, HA!) and the police showed up 15 minutes or so later.
in the meantime, i was trying to find a place to crash, since i doubted my roommate would be home. (he wasn't.)
surprisingly enough, the cops were able to take me directly to my purse. even showed me 2 suspects. (i couldn't give a definite id. the guy had come from behind. and took off.)
my cards were gone (now cancelled). my unlimited metro card is gone. (i have extra pay-by-use cards). my (spare) wisconsin id is gone. and my hairbrush is gone. (why people seem to steal the randomest shit from, i do not know.)

so i was happy. i got my keys back.

oh, but i'm not done. throughout this process, i was treated to a lecture by the lovely (white) officers interrogating me as to why i a white girl from wisconsin was living in that "ghetto", african/african-american/carribbean. . .neighborhood. they wanted to know what my parents/father/brothers thought about me living there. (how did they give me permission to live there?) they wanted to know why me and my (asian) roommate didn't look for a place in hicksville, Long Island. (they didn't quite get why i found humor in that.) they wanted to know if my roommate's girlfriend had a problem with his living with me. they had to add their own extra comments when i said i found him throught the InterNet.
i know i shouldn't have given up so much info. but, i wasn't up to their response if i was "hostile". i just wanted to return to my cozy li'l apartment. but honestly, the worst part was dealing with the officers. grrrr, i say, grrrrrr. what the fuck happened to Courtesy Proffesionalism and Respect?
i've thought about filing a complaint because they were quite obnoxious. but i'm not too sure if the complaint people would understand. grrrrr.

"Well, officer, my biggest problem with the neighborhood is the lack of good women's bars."

Besides, I've wandered around Green Bay and Milwaukee at night.

decent bars in general are lacking in my immediate vicinity.

oh, yes. this little story skips over the guy who, on friday, in broad day light, while i was on my way to pick up my check from my other job, felt beholden to follow me a bit, show me a club (on the way) where i'm "welcome any time", and tell me that women pay him money to "lick" them.

That reminds me of the creepy guy who propositioned me in Green Bay (when I was 17).

i've only been around green bay at night in a car. but that'd be freaky.

i used to hang around milwaukee at night alllllll the fucking time, back in my high school punk rawk days, riding the bus to and fro. i never had any serious problems, despite the supposed potential of my (Short skirted, etc. outfits).

minneapolis, people told me their life stories all the time. i got sworn at so many times for not giving up my number.
but never had to deal with the police for my personal self. (though, when i did for other reasons, they were jackasses, too. . . fuck.)

I'm glad that you were able to recover some of your stuff - that's rare, from what I understand.

Couldn't you tell the police that you purposely stay away from "their" kind of neighborhoods b/c you don't trust their kids? :)

i was surprised i got it back so fast, myself.

while they were on their soapbox, i did mention suburbia wasn't a guarantee of safety.
