ramblin' rebecca
Jan. 26th, 2004 11:04 amso.... i officially no longer want aaron macgruder to be my baby daddy. (though, this may be a good thing anyway. since, gawd being so twisted, such offspring would be bound to be a pollyanna republican anyway.)
i mean, i'd heard rumors of this tv cartoon for awhile. but to partner with sony to mass market the boondocks message? just ain't gonna work. someone's gonna'hafta lose and it sure as hail ain't gonna be sony. the damn show/movie will have to become all about flagee and ribbon, ala the post 9-11 days in order to get past the sony censors. idealistically, this will be the point and the whole plot is but farce. but who am i kidding?
in all likely hood, according to other articles and my best guesses, the show will end up on fox. i'm guessing premiering on the sunday night fox block i hold so dear.
(though, fox being fox, might shove it on thursday or friday nights to justify early cancellation. it doesn't exactly follow fox's political values and it doesn't have the established prestige of the simpsons, which wouldn't have a chanc in hell if it started out today on fox.)
somone pointed out to me that at least it's not an american company. but it might as well be. hello? it's SONY. grrrr.
this is why i don't fucking get attached to characters/creators. does me no damn good.
can i still respect huey every morning? what will become of his pop culture rants? where can i turn to now for empathy in my rage?
alas. woe is me.

Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 10:01 pm (UTC)my beef with sony isn't anything personal/particular.
it's the fact that they're a huge, conglomerate company of the sort that tends to be rather controlling of their productions, preferring mass appeal over substance.
i will admit, i'll take sony over time/warner abc/disney any day. though, i'm a bit behind on who owns whom, so maybe sony is one of those anyway.
