[livejournal.com profile] jadedjade : the package has arrived and is ready for pending activity.

[livejournal.com profile] thinlikestick : according to my pickle place, the Food Network tm will be filming there at some point in time on sunday. apparently, they have "The Best (fried) Pickles"* in nyc. thus far, they are the only fried pickle place i'm aware of, but i don't get around as much as i'd like. point being, anyway, my fried pickles simply must be better than yours. or something.

[livejournal.com profile] allinwonderland & [livejournal.com profile] kaygigi i feel your pain. i do. kick some mouse ass for me and all humankind.

[those with ties to mn]: i'll be coming round your mountain-way the second weekend in may. i haven't yet explored ticket options, but midwest is always my preferred airline, and there may or may not be a milwaukee stop and the only stop i know FOR SURE is duluth, but there'll probably be squeezed in time in minneapolis / the mega-mall with the nieces and nephews.

*confidential to everyone else, yes, i did just say FRIED PICKLES.

During the summer there is a pickle stand on 92nd st and Fifth Ave (Museum Mile/Central Park East), outside of the Jewish Heritage Museaum. MMMMMMM, best pickles in general, much less best fried pickles. Unfortunately, its only a stand, so probably not stable enough for Food Network to film, but man, are those good pickles! All glatt kosher, too, like it matters to you, but still, just saying...
Now, I'm used to pan fried or grill fried pickles, I hope they don't mean deep fried pickles, cause that might be just a tad gross...

FRY, MICE, FRY!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you for that tidbit of information.
with regards to Now, I'm used to pan fried or grill fried pickles, I hope they don't mean deep fried pickles, cause that might be just a tad gross...

if by *deep fried pickles*, you mean pickles dipped in beer batter and fried in a vat of bubbly oil-ness, they are, in fact, *deep fried pickles*. i'm of a mind to camp out at the henry street ale house in fabulous brooklyn, so you're welcome to join in the chance for fame.

i think mice are better roasted on a stick over an open flame.

Ahh, ok, I usually think of them as fried like you fry a hot dog...

GROSS

Anyway, yes, roasted is good, but have you ever seen a mouse squished by a hiking boot worn by me? That was particularly satisfying, though nearly puke inducing..

i'm serious, i know i'm a stranger on the internet and all, but you have to trust me... deep frying pickles was a brilliant idea, and they are, in fact, a delicous treat.

they sound gross, but trust me, dip one in ranch and take a bite, and... it's euphoric. really.

i dont mind if your fried pickles are "better" because every time i have a fried pickle (which is not nearly as often as i'd like), i think to myself, "oh.my.god. this is the best fried pickle i've *ever* had."

except for the time that i tried to make them at home. those were gross... i mean, i still ate them, but i complained about it.

Perhaps someone should take me to this "best fried pickle in NYC" place for me to try...

I guess it just proves the old (Food Network) addage: everything tastes better deep fried. Except deep fried Twinkies at a fish and chips joint in Reading, England: it just tasted like fish and chips (use different oil, cheap bastards!).
