it is just as expensive but astoria is nice and easily accessible. there aren't to many areas of queens that i would move to. i actually was going to rent a place in forest hills before i found my apartment in the city. it was twice as big and only 150 more per month. unfortunately the owner was a racist. he asked me if i had any black friends. he said he didnt really care, but his neighbours would cos trouble. that had to be the biggest crock of shit i had ever heard.
i'll pay for convenience. i won't pay for the scene.
there was a place i was almost considering apartment share in the boondocks of brooklyn (sheepshead bay) that was big and nice. but, besides it being eons away from anything, the building owner "preferred someone caucasian". nevermind the illegalities (the kid (who was asian) i'd have been living with said the landlord had the right to such preferences). i could have friends over weren't white (silly question, i was told), they just couldn't live there. bah.
